Fire systems typically receive a one (1) year contractual warranty after installation. Fire systems are generally considered ‘PART OF THE STRUCTURE’, and can not be removed once installed. Therefore, the majority of fire detection systems are sold outright, and owned by the actual building owner. If the fire system requires service, repairs or inspections, HI DESERT ALARM can provide these services at it’s current prevailing rates. |
Inspection times varies on the nature of business, occupancy hazard rating, and type of materials stored in a building. Typically the standard inspection is performed on an annual bases for businesses. Subscribers should also replace their residential smoke detectors batteries every year. Smoke detector manufactures suggest that ALL units be replaced every ten (10) years. Fire sprinkler systems generally require a five (5) year certification for a licensed fire sprinkler contractor. For specifics, it is best to contact the local fire department, AHJ, or refer to product placement and lifespan. |
Fire detection systems typically encompass the ENTIRE BUILDING, including the attic space, and is not limited to just one or two suites. Example would be a strip malls where there are multiple businesses occupying a few suites, while other spaces are vacant. |
There are three primary activations for fire systems: Smoke - Heat - Manual. Smoke detectors detect smoke. Thermostats use heat to activate. Manual activation is a physical tripping the system usually by the means of a pull station. |
There could numerous reasons for false alarms, but typically the culprit is usually a dirty smoke detector. To clean the device, the subscriber can use a basic household vacuum, or purchase a can of pressurized air typically found at a computer retail store. |
To provide the highest communication reliability, fire systems generally require the use of two (2) telephone lines in the event the primary line is inoperable. Fire systems typically send a 24hr test everyday to verify communications. In the event the first telephone line can not be used, the fire system automatically switch to the back-up secondary line to communicate. Many AHJ’s are now allowing WIRELESS RADIO UNIT as a stand alone communication, so telephone hard-lines are no longer required. For more information regarding Radio Communication, please contact HI DESERT ALARM. |
